Rodney Pipkin is the new OkAPEX Accelerator Specialist at Red River Technology Center. OkAPEX provides assistance to companies who are interested in marketing products and services, learning to navigate federal websites and Government contracting. Eric Troutman, Customized Industry Coordinator just completed the yearlong BISCert sponsored by the Workforce and Economic Development Division at Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Education. He participated in several training sessions throughout the year learning about leadership and workforce initiatives throughout the state of Oklahoma while networking and meeting other individuals throughout the Oklahoma CareerTech system. Eric works to provide training opportunities for local business and industry. He also communicates with small business entrepreneurs to start up or grow their company. Congratulations to Eric and welcome to the team at Red River Technology Center.

Congratulations to Marlee Holt and Isaac Lee on placing first at the International HOSA competition. The team developed a presentation on Emergency Preparedness for Public Health. These students earned their right to compete at the international competition by receiving a first-place win at the state level. Marlee and Isaac are paramedic students at Red River Technology Center/Kiamichi Technology Center and they look forward to serving the community as paramedics in the future.


Kaylee Jeffreys and Dannial Crispin competed last week at SkillsUSA Nationals Competition in Atlanta, GA. Kaylee placed 11th out of 44 contestants in welding sculpture and Dannial placed 4th out of 18 contestants in barbering. Both students are first year students at RRTC. Also, they received a Skill Point certificate. Students who reach or exceed a threshold score in an official national competition are awarded this certificate. Central to these certificates are the expertise and industry-defined competencies compiled in the SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards. The Skill Point Certificate represents the pinnacle of achievement in demonstrating proficiency and workplace readiness in the student’s occupational specialty. Congratulations Kaylee and Dannial!

RRTC held our award assembly last week. Cameron university awarded $1000 tuition fee waivers to Alex Hernandez, Corey Ralls, Raylee White, Jessica Hernandez, and Malachi Dodson. The Rodney J. Love Scholarships in the amount of $250 were awarded to Paige Hemmingway, Savannah Stone, Carter Oyster, and Destiny Martinez. The Lions Club Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 were awarded to Caleb Carson and Landry Hinsley. EMJO Operartions, Inc. awarded continued education scholarships to Alex Hernandez and Caleb Carson in the amount of $2500. Congratulations to all the recipients!

The Jerry Morris Scholarship is given in memory of Mr. Jerry Morris, former Superintendent of Red River Technology Center. His family donated money to be used to help adult students in their journey to becoming a nurse. This scholarship has been given for many years and has impacted many students. The recipients are Autumn Jackson, Chloe Denton, Shawna Guffey, Robin Anderson, and Simone DeThomas.
