Health Careers Certification

As part of the Health Sciences Career Cluster, the Health Careers Certification program prepares students for a career in the health care industry. Careers in health care make up one of the fastest growing areas of the job market. The Health Careers program offers options that could be a life-long career or a jump-start to a variety of advanced health care degrees. Health Careers students have the opportunity to obtain multiple certifications in many health care areas that could help ensure their employability.

Curriculum includes anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, legal and ethical issues, medical math, safety and asepsis, concepts of health care economics and CPR/Health Care Provider.

Certifications are available and may require testing fees and other prerequisites. Prerequisites and physical requirements may be necessary to participate in this career pathway.

Students must be able to perform a number of physical activities in the clinical portion of the career majors. At a minimum, students will be required to lift patients, stand for several hours and perform bending activities. Students must be able to demonstrate rational and appropriate behavior under stressful conditions.
