RRTC’s Biomedical Science Academy Juniors are investigating an unattended death. They will use the evidence they find to solve this mysterious death.

RRTC’s Pre-Engineering students on the first day of school did a design challenge called Ducks and Dinosaurs Race. They had to construct a raft of some sort, 2 inches above the ground using constraints given and just materials provided. The object was to have them ride safely down and see who could make it the farthest with the most amount of Ducks or Dinosaurs to get the most points!

RRTC’s Business and Information Technology student, Andrew Christian, recently attended the National Business Professionals of America competition in Orlando, FL. There were 848 chapters that competed in 27 competitive events with more than 5,000 competitors. Such a great opportunity for Andrew!

Happy Retirement to Lisa Williams and Sherri Branch. We celebrated them at our annual end of year cookout. Congratulations, ladies! You will be missed.

RRTC’s Biomedical Science Academy student, Cadence Hill, was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship from the National Technical Honor Society. Cadence was one of 250 outstanding NTHS members to receive the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship based on their ability to consistently exemplify the 7 attributes of NTHS – Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership. Jon H. Poteat was a co-founder of National Technical Honor Society. Congratulations, Cadence!

RRTC’s Pre-Engineering Academy students recently held cardboard canoe races at the Simmons Center. The canoes were constructed from cardboard and duct tape only.

With only a week to prepare, and with the help of our gracious partners at Halliburton, our high school fab team finished 4th place at the State Conference for SkillsUSA held at the 798 Pipe liners Union. We appreciate Halliburton’s commitment to our welding program.

RRTC’s Welding and Fabrication students attended state SkillsUSA in Tulsa last week. Kaylee Jeffreys placed first in high school Metal Sculpture. Aurore Davis placed third in high school Metal Sculpture. Dane Hunt, first place in Mechanical, Hanna Spence, second place in Mechanical, and Jackson Anderson, third place in Mechanical. Kaylee Jeffreys will advance to SkillsUSA National competition in June in Atlanta, GA. Congratulations, students!

RRTC’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration post-secondary student, Ayden Hinds, attended SkillsUSA state competition recently. Ayden placed 2nd in the post-secondary category. Congratulations!

RRTC’s Cosmetology students attended SkillsUSA state competition recently. Dannial Crispin placed first in Barbering. Kamrie Channel placed 2nd in Nail Care. Job Exhibit winners were Jillian Evans, 1st place-Short Hair Design, Kylie Barrington, 1st place-Acrylic Nails, and Avery Throckmorton, 2nd place-Long Hair Design. Dannial will be attending SkillsUSA National competition in June in Atlanta, GA. Congratulations students!

To All Participating Agencies and Supporters, On behalf of the EMS and Nursing programs at Red River Technology Center, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you who contributed to the success of our recent Emergency Simulation Day. Your support—whether through the donation of time, personnel, equipment, or expertise—played a vital role in creating an immersive and meaningful learning experience for our students. Without your willingness to go above and beyond, this hands-on training event would not have been possible. The commitment demonstrated by your teams to emergency preparedness and community service is nothing short of inspiring. It is a testament to the strength and dedication of the emergency services in our region, and we are proud to collaborate with such outstanding professionals. We are especially grateful for your effort and coordination that went into planning and executing this event. Your involvement provided our students with a realistic and engaging scenario that helped them build critical skills and confidence they will carry with them into their careers. We are already looking forward to next year's event, tentatively scheduled for April 22, 2026, and hope to work alongside you again to make it another outstanding success. The RRTC senior capstones are a semester long project involving skills learned throughout the two-year Biomedical program. Each senior develops a project of their choice and showcases their work in front of a panel of judges. A big thank you to this year’s judges for donating their time and expertise.
