Lion’s Club names Students of the Month at RRTC for February


The Duncan Noon Lion’s Club has named Red River Technology Center Health Careers student Kiersten Collins and Biomedical Science Academy student Sydney Powers as Students of the Month for February.


Kiersten Collins, a senior at Empire High School, has been active in basketball, FFA, track, student council, Key Club, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, served as an Empire football manager, and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society at RRTC.


In the community, Collins volunteers her time with Beautiful Day, is an Empire Reading Buddy, and works the Kiwanis Christmas tree lot.


After graduation, Collins would like to attend college, graduate with a bachelor’s degree in science, and pursue a career in sonography.


Sydney Powers, a Homeschool senior, is active as President of HOSA-Future Health Professionals, and President of 4-H Teen Leaders.


In the community, Powers volunteers her time organizing citizenship trips, serving the homeless, working children’s book drives, and at the Stephens County Humane Society.


After graduation, Powers plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University and earn her nursing degree with a minor in athletic training.
