Practical Nursing

 

Rewarding and exciting careers in nursing begin with the one-year Practical Nursing program at Red River Technology Center.

Students attend the 12-month Practical Nursing program from July to the following June and attend class Monday through Friday from approximately 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Clinical hours vary from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Students must schedule an entrance exam and complete an application packet prior to being accepted to the Practical Nursing program. Information packets may be picked up at the department, located in the Health Careers Building.  The Practical Nursing program is open to adults who possess a GED or diploma.

Accreditation

The Practical Nursing program is accredited by The National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission* and approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.** Graduates of the program are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

College Bound

Graduates of the program who choose to continue their education may be able to receive college credit at additional institutions, including the University of Oklahoma.

Additional fees may apply to this Career Pathway.
